Laurence Strong Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) Apicture taken apparantly in 1940 in southern Germany. Are the officers wearing old Weimar uniforms? later Larry Edited March 12, 2012 by Laurence Strong
Hauptmann Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 The one on the far left and the one second from the far right may even be WW1 uniforms as I don't see the wreath around the lower cocade on the caps. The other one in the center does seem to have the wreath. I'm guessing they are retired officers who were given the right to continue to wear their uniforms. But I'm far from an expert in this area so hoping others with more knowledge will jump in here. Dan
Laurence Strong Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Hi Dan Thanks for the reply. The one on the right appears to have Generals tabs. I wonder if they are Colonels-in-cheif's to a Regiment. later Larry
Hauptmann Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 He does indeed... forgot to mention that. Quite possible... but again hoping others will jump in here to confirm or give other info. Dan
Dave Danner Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 The officer in the middle appears to be wearing someone else's crusher, since his uniform is otherwise pre-Wehrmacht. He also appears to have a cloth Johanniterorden breast star, so he is a member of the nobility.
Laurence Strong Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Thanks Dave Much appreciated later Larry
Laurence Strong Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Does anyone familiar with german royalty, recognise the officer in the middle? Many thanks later Larry
