Hi all This is what I have collected to date, It's not a very big collection, however I think it has a couple choice items. What I have for hat badges to date.

Jump wings, sports badge, and I can't remeber what the eagle badge is for, along with a Gebirgsjäger patch and a national one.

Some beret's, fist one is for the panzerjäger. I don't have any mannequin head's so i stuffed them in the scanner.

This is an Artillery beret with a Panzer hat badge. It seems to be made from silver as it has tarnished and it is not the same pot metal as the other hat badges.

This is - if I have figured it out properly - Aufklarungs Fallschrimjäger. would that be the same as Canadian/British/US pathfinders?

Last but not least are some Polizei and Grenztruppen patches. The uniform attatched is for regular border guards and the gold ones are for the Water Border Guards. The Watchpolizei patch I believe is for the police that guarded the embassies in Berlin.

Fernspähtruppe! Now down to only one company - Fernspählehrkompanie 200 - but until 1996 Fernspähkompanie 100 and 300 also existed. As to their mission, I'd say they're more of an LRRP-unit, the Luftlandebrigade has their own Luftlandeaufklärungskompanie.

The green beret in post #3 is from the Panzergrenadiertruppe.

Those are really cool examples Larry. I want to find a nice Medical example. There is a GI Surplus that has tons of these berets, but without the insignia. How difficult are the beret badges to find?

Laurence...your "Eagle" badge in post #2 is a "Leistungsabzeichen" a BW proficiency badge, yours appears to be a stage III in Gold. See here for details... http://translate.goo...=X&oi=translate
