    Hi, I found this with some other bits and bobs and while I can see it i Russian I do not know anything else about it. Is there anybody out there who can help me identify it please?

    The tunic could date from the WWII period or possibly to the early 50s with those shoulder boards. The rank is for a major and the gold background could indicate a combat role. Silver back ground was used for Administrative services etc. Are there any markings inside the tunic? They are usually found close to the botton of the tunic skirt in a black outlined square. The last line in the square indicates the year of manufacture. It would be the letter g followed by the year.
