Mervyn Mitton Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Nedelskiy - this is a very suitable forum for Firefighting medals and equipment since they are non-militaria. I see that you have opened a thread for African Firefighting - this can be for the rest of the World. Well done for thinking of it. Mervyn
Stuka f Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I can also contribute with a Belgian set. Saved this set of photographs of being sold separately from the medals at a car booth sale. The guy in the frame, is the same one as on the 19 th century pic's. I would love to have the helmet!!
Laurence Strong Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Belgium: Civil Decoration for Long Service in the "Pompiers et Garde Civile" of Leopold II. 1st class Cross.
Laurence Strong Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 2nd class cross. The difference in ribbons is due to manufacture differences.
Laurence Strong Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I don't have a Gold cross medal so next in line is the Silver medal
Laurence Strong Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Bronze medal. These medal were awarded after a minimum of 25 years service and the level of award depended on the recipients rank at the time of award.
Mervyn Mitton Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Thankyou all for adding to this thread. Fire and Ambulance are often the forgotten services - which is unfortunate. I think it strange that the British Brigades have not featured - they have a wealth of different medals. We must not overlook the uniforms and equipment that was in use in the past - and now. The old Brass helmets are always worth a picture. Mervyn
Stuka f Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Here you go! Some of the French brass helmets I used to own. Picture is print screen of a photo book I am making for my self, of the items I owned for the past years.
