JBFloyd Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Does anyone have an accurate identification of this medal? I can't find it in any of my sources on Greek medals.
Emanuel Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Greetings JBLFloyd, it's from Greek Royal Navy, and to be precise a medal of the "Athletic Association of the Royal Navy". Most of such medals are minted during 1935, so I suppose this one is from the same period.
JBFloyd Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 Many thanks. That explains why it's not in the major sources on Greek awards.
makedon Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 As Emanuel says, this medal belongs to the Hellenic Royal Navy Athletic Association-it was awarded for sea games. It is not an official award or a medal that would be worn on the uniform. A rather common medal, without interest. Good though for anyone who collects athletic medals connected to military or naval games.
Paul R Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I did not know that such items were made. Was Greece the only country that made such medals for military exercises?
