Gordon Williamson
I like the look of it, though the furniture isn't what you'd normally find on an L/18. However, it is worth noting that this form produced two patterns of U-Boat badge which are totally unlike each other so the precedence is already there for this firm producing more than one type for a given badge. mmiller
Gordon,I have received similar feedback, such as yours, from other quarters. The normal furniture ought to be a block hinge, a catch on a circular disc, and a fluted pin. Examples show the pin running either vertically, or horizontally, in which case a small top hook resides at the rear top of the badge. The hardware on the badge I show looks convincing. I haven't seen the fakers get the hinge, and details of the rectangular catch mounting plate, correct..... yet. The eagle does not appear to be a match to any other maker I have found. Jan Arne S
Hi Mark !I saw I was asked for in an other Forum . I have never handled any L/18 Speedboot Badge . But detail on badge looks beleiveable for me . Not sure if this is so much to help . Jan Arne Edited February 12, 2006 by Jan Arne S
greg.hays
I saw it over there as well, and I own only two Kreigsmarine badges...neither of which are an E-boat but that hardware is definitely consistent with accepted Heer badges from BH Mayer. Looks like a good badge to me, but again my experience in this field is lacking.
