    Good Evening Everyone……

Well day two of the Calgary Easter Show is over……

A bit disappointed as there were not as many medal dealers there as usual so had to find something else to purchase, after all I could not let all that money burn a hole in my pocket…..

I will admit there was a lot of Militaria of all different kinds but nothing for me…….

    Except……

This is what I did purchase…….

A Sea Gallantry Medal (Board of Trade Medal for Gallantry at Sea)

Named: JOSEPH TAYLOR of the FISHING BOAT “CONTENT” 13th JANUARY 1881

    A photograph of Joseph Taylor

    A Royal Humane Society Medal

Named: JOSEPH TAYLOR 13th JANUARY 1881

Along with these medals an photo were his Certificate of Competency and two copies of his Board of Trade Death Certificate……

Of course no research done yet……

Mike - both very nice medals. The Royal Humane Society Medal has rocketed in price over the past three years. Was it a succesful

saving - or, did the person drown. The wording on the reverse shows this - I did list the wordings on an earlier post. Mervyn

    Hi Mike,

I would say you secured a great piece of history, whether military or not.

Very nice artifact, well done and you didn't make commit the collector's sin of keeping money in your pocket:

God bless you my son.

    Regards

    Brian
