Mervyn Mitton Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 There were many cloth souvenirs made with the synbol and wording from Kipling's Absent minded beggar. I think it was the Daily Mail that offered them to readers. Mervyn
QSAMIKE Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 You will find a lot of items from the Boer War era with the figure of the Absent Minded Beggar on them..... He was the Boer Wars version of Tommy, Old Bill and GI Joe..... Just a few samples..... Mike
ray11 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) Yes I have the medal but no box and many medals to soldiers in south africa during the boer war. I need someone with better eyes than me to read it. hope you find this a little interesting . best,Ray Edited July 11, 2014 by ray11

Mervyn Mitton Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Mike good post - and a sight of your collection - always a pleasure... Ray - rephotograph the swagger stick and try to get it in focus - I couldn't make anything out - perhaps the Pascal Lamb in the centre. Mervyn
