Chris Boonzaier
There were of course far fewer German casualties on the 1st day of the Somme.... so let me offer this little Gem.... it has been cut down to frame, but is actually much more practicle than one that has its ful white paper rim.... Tony
Where was his unit when he got killed? Yes where? It's at times like this I wished I had my books but from memory I think they were in the Thiepval area. Is it yours Chris? Tony
Chris Boonzaier
Where was his unit when he got killed? Hi, they were just to the right of your 180 IR, in fact, the 3rd Comapany was right next to the 3rd company of the 180th. The RIR99 was at Thiepval, the 3rd company just to the south west in the Granatloch. The Highland light infantry broke into their lines and wiped out most of the company in hand to hand fighting. best Chris
