TacHel Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 It was only a matter of time IMHO. There had been pressure for years on the Russian Government by workers' groups and unions to reestablish a state award to replace the Soviet Era's "Hero of Labour of the Soviet Union". On 29 March 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed presidential decree №294 establishing the title "Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation" The title is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation for special services in labour to the state and its people associated with the achievement of outstanding results in public, social and economic activities aimed at ensuring the welfare and prosperity of Russia.
Megan Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Good for them. One thing sadly lacking in most nation's honours system is a way to mark dedicated hard graft!
TacHel Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 I must say I am quite surprised at the extremely cold, even frigid welcome by Russian friends for this revived award ... They hate it with a passion!
JapanX Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I must say I am quite surprised at the extremely cold, even frigid welcome by Russian friends for this revived award ... They hate it with a passion! I bet they are simply not affiliated with these mythical "workers' groups and unions" who "had been pressure for years ... to reestablish a state award" ...
TacHel Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 I bet they are simply not affiliated with these mythical "workers' groups and unions" who "had been pressure for years ... to reestablish a state award" ... Indeed... I'm serious though... A Muscovite friend (that I think you know from Sammler.ru) is in full fury over it. He thinks it's the dumbest thing ever! And he detests the fact they slapped the bi-cephalic eagle on a star, he simply detests it!

By the way, first awardings were made today
TacHel Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 P.S. By the way, first awardings were made today Thanks! I'll go have a look at the President's web site, they usually have really good pictures.
Greg Collins Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 (edited) Frank, I've got to agree with the Muscovite friend at Sammler.ru... they've replaced the symbol OF the worker (hammer and sickle) with a symbol that OPPRESSED the worker (the Czarist double headed eagle). While the idea may be on the up-and-up (we'll see), the symbol used is completely contradictory. They could have, in my opinion, done better. I'd be interested in what Zuganov and the CPRF have to say about it. Anyway, Happy May Day to All! Edited May 1, 2013 by Greg Collins

JapanX Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 ... they've replaced the symbol OF the worker (hammer and sickle) with a symbol that OPPRESSED the worker (the Czarist double headed eagle). While the idea may be on the up-and-up (we'll see), the symbol used is completely contradictory. They could have, in my opinion, done better. Actually this is a BIG question who oppressed "poor workers" more - "red star" or "czarist double eagle" But the idea to crossbreed them is indeed pure madness!I'd be interested in what Zuganov and the CPRF have to say about it. Anyway, Happy May Day to All! Happy May Day Greg! P.S. Please say "hi" to all "oppressed" from the local joint
Greg Collins Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Well, Nick, you know how one who loves "that" statue would feel about the "red star" vs "czarist double eagle". Regarding the oppressed at the joint, it's certainly the staff that's oppressed. The cons have it made. Climate control, three squares a day... hell, they even get to vote on which cable T.V. system they want. Makes one wonder if sticking to the "straight and narrow" is the way to go.
JapanX Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Well, Nick, you know how one who loves "that" statue would feel about the "red star" vs "czarist double eagle". Regarding the oppressed at the joint, it's certainly the staff that's oppressed. You see!? Controversies are everywhere ... Who are oppressing who and for how long The cons have it made. Naaa They "didn't do it". Simply ask them Climate control, three squares a day... hell, they even get to vote on which cable T.V. system they want. No spa treatment? Cruel, cruel world Hopefully this quote will cheer you up “The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.” Karl Marx
Greg Collins Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Has this gotten way, way off topic or what? Yeah, we're getting ready to "decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress" us here in the "Old Dominion". The line-up is typical... one candidate simply "forgot" to disclose several thousand dollars in gifts. Simply slipped his mind.
JapanX Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Has this gotten way, way off topic or what? A loooooong time ago ... Let's hope we won't be oppressed for this
TacHel Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 May 1, 2013, 12:00 St Petersburg President Vladimir Putin presented the first 5 Gold Stars of Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation. Valery Gergiyev, conductor and artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre Alexander Konovalov, member of the Russian Academy of Science and of the Academy of Medical Science, director of the N.N. Burdenko Institute of Neurosurgery Specialist machine operator Konstantin Chumanov Mining machinery engineer Vladimir Melnik Farm machinery engineer Yury Konnov All photos come from the web site of the President of the RF http://eng.kremlin.ru/
TacHel Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 I must admit... There's most definitely an air of the past in that particular presentation... One can almost imagine the sound of farm tractors parading just outside below the balcony... http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2013/post-3030-0-79516500-1367528884.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2013/post-3030-0-73893300-1367528925.gif

Greg Collins Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Nice to see a few Orders of Labour Glory still being worn...
TacHel Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Nice to see a few Orders of Labour Glory still being worn... And in the incorrect order "before" the federation Order for Merit...
TacHel Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) Romantique ... There’s nothing like the sound of a happy and content proletariat signing patriotic songs to the hum of well timed tractors… Always brings a tear to my eye… Edited May 2, 2013 by TacHel
JapanX Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 And in the incorrect order "before" the federation Order for Merit... Yep, looks like Konstantin Chumanov prefer chronological order Obviously he is oppressing http://polygonv.narod.ru/pervoist/nagradyRF.pdf or (alternatively)http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Порядок_ношеня_государственных_наград_в_Россйской_Федераци
