WojciechZ Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Hello, researching for a biographies of two Soviet fighter pilots attached to Polish units I have found their photos with decorations. The main part shows the Order of the Red Banner (left) and Polish Cross of Grunwald (Krzyz Grunwaldu - right), while two in the middle are unknown to me. Is there a possibility to identify it based on the ribbons? The second officer wore on his right side of the chest a badge (paratrooper?) as shown in the right top corner of the picture. Is it possible to identyfy this badge as well? I would be really grateful for any comments and hints. Thank you. Best regards Wojtek
Eric Gaumann Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Looks like a Combat Service medal and a Defense of Caucasus medal. The para badge could be a '33/'34 Soviet badge. It's hard to tell from the image.
redoctober Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Eric got it. Early Red Banner, Combat Services Medal, Defence of the Caucasus Medal The badge looks like a parachutist badge to me but there are so many types of parachutist badge that it would be incredibly hard to tell which one without a better photo.
