Guest Rick Research
This came by with the Traveling Museum waaaaay back in 2010 and I thought it had been posted whilst I was offline, but apparently... not. Due to copy/paste technical isssues (compounded by my appalling typing) rather than RE-typing the text, have added it as a print screen, just click and All Shall Be Revealed about Herr Sympher! Paul R
That is an amazing set of medals. It would have made a stunning medal bar.
Dave Danner
Here is a PDF of the 1922 edition of the Zentralblatt der Bauverwaltung with his obituary. ZBBauverw_1922_007.pdf There's also a long article on "Die Knickfestigkeit vollwandiger Stäbe in neuer einheitlicher Darstellung" and some "Vermischtes" short articles because I have no way of editing PDFs. And his Wikipedia bio (in German): http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Sympher Regards
Guest Rick Research
Dave! Forgot to mention--- this sure is one immaculate Godet Spange, eh? DESPITE that firm's retail cachet, note that the gilding is gone (evaporated) off his RAO2E's oakleaves. The chain must date very late in the war or just after--and would only have been worn a few times before his death.
