Joe Sweeney Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 All, I've had a Bluse to 13K 139IR for quite some time. I've always thought the 13K =MGC. Would this be a factual assumption in 1916? I know some regiments went to a 4th Bn and the MGC became the 15th K. Not sure about the 139th? In any event would this rule have still been in effect in 1916? Any help appreciated Joe Sweeney
Chip Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Joe, As I understand it, the addition of a fourth battalion to a few regiments caused the MGK to become the 17.Komp. (KME of 2.9.15). In most regiments, the 13.Komp. remained the MGK. Chip
Hoss Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Thank you Chip I find it confusing too, wasn't the 14th & 15th kompanies 'Fortress' ? Joe Lovely Tunic Eric
Chip Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) Eric, The 14th was for sure, but how many regiments would have had fortress MG units? I can only imagine that the regiments that were garrisoned in or near towns that had fortresses would have provided these companies. But would every regiment have a need for such a company?
