I do not believe that the breast star was wrongly plated.

We were talking about gild on breast star superimposed badge - not about gild on rays dear Richard ;)

    You meant it?

    If "yes",

    result of the auction

    № 0906 9.000,00 € + 23% = 11010 Euro

On a photo from the Bene Merenti auction it is visible , that diameter of a ring is less than diameter at a yesterday's badge
    About 16 mm

The ring is got to the core!

At the Bene Merenti auction collecting from the 2nd and 3rd class.

Yesterday sold the extremely rare, original badge

    Seriously?!

Looks more like 16,25 mm to me

    Yep.

    Original ring should be soldered.

By the way, another interesting feature of this 1st class set set from BM is that breast star "hallmarked with a swan".

So we know that this breast star made a trip to France ;)

I wonder why badge is not hallmarked with the same mark

    It isn't necessary to sneer

Ring measured at auction at the request of the buyer!

"The ring was measured on the request of potential buyer"

I bet this potential buyer is currently among us

    JapanХ

    You almost guessed !

It was measured for my friend Eugene.

I remember this guy ... we were like brothers once

    So.

    Let's sum up.

The ring is cut and has slightly smaller diameter.

Badge doesn't have "swan" mark that breast star has.

    A little bit alarming ...

I think that goes without saying.

    Now something reeeeeeaaaaaaly interesting.

Please open your Peterson (3rd edition) on page 148.

See this black-and-white picture of 1st class?

Now take a good loooooong look at the badge ;)

It has double ring construction!

Yep, you're right. Nonetheless I don't think that these were really gcs. Especially since a badge with a 3rd class construction will twist on a sash.

The swan mark on the set from bm is really interesting, indeed. Looks like another put together group. The sash was a replacement, anyway.

@Taganrok: No, not this one. "Recently", as I put it was a year or two back, if I remember correctly.

    Why to quote my phrases?

I didn't quote your words about me.

    Here discuss an award

Time heals all wounds".

I don't have any "разборки" with anybody, especially with you ;)

Please fell free to do it right now

Me and my "mashine- gun" posting again ...

Guess there is a special place in hell for people like me

P.S. But you get one thing right - this thread is about 1st class pillars and not about about your (or mine) current "feelings", Sammler or its owner.

P.P.S. Since we are once again "best buddies forever" I will greatly appreciate if you stop mention my name on forums where I can answer to your gentle posts.

Ты опять на публику сработал, которая может это нормально прочитать. А я толком и половины не понял

Back in 2011, I was contemplating a cased 1st Class set being offered by an Italian auction house.

The lacquer case and inscriptions were well kept as was the original sash.

It would have been a superb set but for one minor detail - the red enamel of the star looked like a LUNAR LANDSCAPE! It was pitted and crumbling with white spots covering its entire surface.

While enamel rot is frequently encountered with the Nanjing Puppet Government awards, it's not something you'd expect for Kyoto Mint insignia.

But evidently this can happen. Who knows what the unique conditions causing it were - bad batch of enamels, incorrect curing process, set stored in a damp cellar the last 60 years ...

Tell me you saved the pictures!

    Alas no.

I don't recall it being sold so it could well turn up again in the near future.
