E Williams
Are we talking about the regular breast plate with 3 lower elements?I believe so Chris. He will send me photos later tonight. I think two of the three lower plates are not there.
Chris Boonzaier
It is not really just for machine gunners... In fact, I think it would be pretty difficult to use one with an MG...more of a sentry thing if I remember correctly.... They dont cost the world, and i would avoid it if plates were missing, they will not be easy to replace. Best Chris
E Williams
Got the photos and it looks like only a front body plate and the rear. There is an hole bullet hole in the front plate. Chris Boonzaier
I think the single front plates can range from 400-800, depending on condition and model?
Adler 1
A rear plate for the grabenpanzer? Never heard of it, never seen one. Nevertheless, a grabenpanzer is rare nowadays, only the condition of this one isn't so good anymore and it's not complete... of course this has infuence on the price... I once wrote a little article about this interesting piece of hardwear: Here's a picture of a few grabenpanzers... Adler

Chip
Nevertheless, a grabenpanzer is rare nowadays,Karel,You must not have ever seen the old display at the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces in Brussels! Chip
Adler 1
Of course I have seen that in the good old days. Everybody was devostated when they changed the WW1 collection and took all the Grabenpanzers of the walls. Still wondering where they are now... Anyway, last time I visited the museum, they only had about 7 or so on display... Adler
Chip
They had so many sets. I wondered if they sold some off after they took them down. I have to admit that the museum did need some conservation steps taken, as when I last saw it in the early 1980s, there was obvious damage from sunlight, insects and gravity. Like everyone else, I wish they could have done that without totally ruining the old world type of museum display. The sheer volume of items, many of them quite rare, was astounding.Chip
Adler 1
Yes, they sold a lot to dealers and collectors... now I wish I had more money in those days ... Adler

Adler 1
Sorry Eric, that's all I have of this display and I've heard they are rebuilding the WW1 section at the moment... Ed, if you want to buy one, I would suggest to wait for a complete one... and maybe also save some funds to pay for it ... Adler

Adler 1I'm not interested myself. I'd rather put the money into a Luger, my primary collecting interest. I don't have a place to display it anyway.
