Without original case in sight it's hardly "a bargain"

Couple of days ago set of two (stone mint cased "cannon" + cased medal on blue ribbon) was sold in Japan for $1130 ;)

Thanks for posting those pictures. I must say that I find around $1000 a bargain for these considering the rarity and usual quality, even with the wrong case. Maybe my judgement has been clouded by my years of collecting Mongolian items, where occasionally one would pay for rarity over quality. I guess next time I'll know what to expect with these. Thanks again for the info.

    Check this out guys ;)

Exellent photo of Baron (lyricist and poet!) Takasaki Masakaze with cannon on his chest!

This photo was made somewhere between 1905 and 1912

By the way, how do you like this order of his medals?

    "Wedding"/"Cannon"/"Constitution"/"Red Cross"

    Instead of official

    "Constitution"/"Wedding"/"Cannon"/"Red Cross"

    Poets ...

Ah the artistic types. Conformity goes against the very idea of being creative, so Perhaps on days he was feeling particularly creative he wore them upside down.

Great picture and thanks for posting. Now there's a set of rarities I wouldn't mind having.

    Merry Christmas all.

I'm starting to hesitate for asking, but can someone date this item?

How do you figure out at this medal, when it was probably awarded?

    Can you date these examples?

    De ja vu? :whistle::D

I'm starting to hesitate for asking, but can someone date this item?

Well, since all these medals were issued only for a very short period of time (7 years - from 1887 to 1894) usually no dating is needed.

    No? :ninja:
