    Hello Everyone

I bought a m35 helmet about 25 years ago when I was a teenager and now in later years

I have realised that it has been repainted.I took out some wire wool and took of some of the paint to find this insignia under 2 layers of paint and it seems to be on the bottom layer. The insignia is in white and it looks like a lion wearing a crown and holding a axe.Do you boys have any ideas I do not really collect this sort of thing any more.I am more active in collecting U-boat items now.

    Best Regards Richard..

    Guest Darrell

I have what is believed to be another Noregian M42 Helmet re-issue. This one still has the modern paint applied. Looks like the emblem is still there as well.

Any idea what I could use to strip the first layers of paint off?

    Hello Gents,

I too have picked up one of these Norwegian Re-issue's M35

It is painted in the Desert camo...Original paint...not painted since the re-issue...

Complete and intact with Liner and Chin strap. marked SE64 and the number 436 stamped at the rear of the helmet.

Initially because i picked it up here in NZ i thought it to be an Ex Afrika Korps helmet, ( the kiwi vets were prolific at bringing home souvineers,) :P

But looking through the threads, i spotted this one...and recognised the decals...

The decals on mine are on the top and are in pretty good nick for the age...

What ones of these worth? Just for Insurance purposes...you see...

    Cheers Gents

    Paul

    Hello Mr Herr Geezer,

Here is a pic of the helmet,

As i said, i thought it was an Kiwi veteran Afrika Korps bring back....due to the Khaki colour of the helmet...

Surely its worth more thn $150USD?

    Paul,

I too feel like it should be worth more than 150 dollars!!! Original paint, liner and chin strap??!?! Stripped shells go for more than that! I would guess that a conservative price would be double that!

IMHO, the decal adds a bit of history! I bet that these will be rarer than WW2 double decal helmets as I am sure that people will do their best to remove the decal.

    Awesome helmet!

$150 may be low to you both, but I based my answer on collectability of these helmet which isn't high on most German helmet collector's lists. If you paid more then I guess these are worth what you're willing to pay. They are never going to be any more valuable as WWII collectibles. Usually these helmet don't have original WWII German paint or German liners! These have been reissued to the Norwegian military, thus they have been modified!
