Paul C Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Any help with translating the writing on the below pic is appreciated. Also the soldier on the left looks like he has 2 red stars and one OPW, correct? For the one on the right I can't identify the medal below the red star, any help? Thanks.
Dave Danner Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) Hi Paul, The badge appears to be a proficiency badge. "Excellent Artilleryman" or the like. I don't think there's enough detail to tell which. See this thread: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/1720-otlichnik-excellence-badges/ The top says "In memory of the Great Patriotic War 1941-45". The bottom says "Our cause is just" and "We are victorious".- this is the same as the text on the obverse of the Medal for Victory Over Germany. Edited March 30, 2014 by Dave Danner
Paul C Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 Thanks Dave. The on the right is my grandfather's brother's son or my father's cousin.
