JapanX Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Well Larry, this doc was issued on September 22, 1944 Most likely award pay-off doc. That`s all I am able to (not much ... I know ) Cheers, Nick
Laurence Strong Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) Hello Nick Thanks for that it's a start. Sincerely Larry Edited May 6, 2014 by Laurence Strong
fukuoka Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Award for 6th Class GK, 7th Class RS, and cash award of 2100 yen. Navy sailor Petty Officer 2nd Class Maruyama [??]. The cash award is high, so probably a posthumous award.
Laurence Strong Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Hello Many thanks for that Sincerely Larry
Laurence Strong Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 As confirmed by the owner of the document, who also owns some of the medals. The guy who got these awards was named Maruyama Yasuo. He was killed on a destroyer named Asanagi which sank in combat May 22, 1944, torpedoed by the United States Navy submarine USS Pollack. Once again "Many thanks" Larry
fukuoka Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 As confirmed by the owner of the document, who also owns some of the medals. Once again "Many thanks" Larry Yasuo, yes. Thanks. And you can be sure that if this is a posthumous award, the date recorded on the documents is the date he died or the date he was confirmed deceased.
