JapanX Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Yep Silver + Gilt Only 1st class is made in gold (it has same size - 60 mm as 2nd class neck badge )
drclaw Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Thanks for posting these Nick. I like how Russia is re-introducing the old Tsarist Orders. It would be even better if they resurrected old firms like Keibel and Eduard to make them
JapanX Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 It would be even better if they resurrected old firms like Keibel and Eduard to make them You get that right! Quality of St.Petersburg Mint is not very impressive
Rogi Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) It'd just be nice if the quality was there again, and gold for the gold orders :D come on gold! lol I'd even be ok with the 14k or dare I say "lower" grades of gold Edited May 6, 2014 by Rogi
utopis Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Gold isn't the main problem. Silver gilt is fine as long as there is good enamel work. Really a shame how the modern ones look. They're the ugly cousins of the Tsarist ones. Though I like the numbering on the the neck badge - that's a nice touch (but the engraving is badly executed) The safety pin looks just ridiculous. It looks like it's going to break off after a little wear.
JapanX Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Really a shame how the modern ones look. They look like crap even as compared with USSR awards ...
sambolini Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Hi, I agree, horrible quality. It looks a lot like the Gode (sp?) copies of Imperial German Orders made for the general public. It must be a lost art creating the quality orders of pre 1918. Regards, Sam

TacHel Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 But still very nice pics of an extremely rare Order! Thanks Nick!
