EK 1914 EK2 1914 Maker Z?

Guys,

Some more scrap iron today, the maker appears to be Z or 2 maybe?

Any thoughts?

Z is an unknown maker.

Unfortunately for me spotting differences in iron cross cores is like trying to spot differences in sheep, it doesn't matter how hard I try they all look the same.

Why are these so nice? I don't collect them especially but I seem to have 20+ of them hanging around without really noticing that I bought them. I've got them with certs and with dogtags and with ribbons with black safety pins and one with a massive death poster thing. They are just great things to behold.

As you Tony, they do all look the same to me as well. I even bought a book and that was no use whatsoever.

Guys,

I can't help myself either when I see them, yes they all look alike to me too but they all represent a certain standard of soldiering to be awarded in the first place which in todays day and age would probably be more like a MC or the likes since we no longer stand in muddy holes for too long if we can help it? I also don't collect them intentionally but I will always take anything that is original as it is getting harder to find across the board if you shop where I do!

Ah yes but apparently I now have an Aussie twang, if it was Kiwi I might know a little more about sheep.

Jock, I don't think the Iron Cross can be compared to the award system of any other country but as you say, they're always nice to have even though I haven't bought one in years.
