ColinRF Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 This one is a wee bit smaller than the event Napoleonics I have done. I think I may do a small group of war poets as my own little nod to the centenary - Sassoon, Owen, McCrae and perhaps a few others. Colin 1
ColinRF Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Thanks Peter. Today I did a quick portrait of Sassoon's friend Lt. Wilfred Owen MC. Owen is recognized as the greatest of the war poets. Sadly he was killed in the last week of the war. This is the same size as Sassoon. They will look good together. Still finalizing his face so minor tweaks yet to come. Colin Edited August 5, 2014 by ColinRF 1
ColinRF Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Owen....still needs collar insignia for Manchesters. Edited August 8, 2014 by ColinRF
ColinRF Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 Sassoon done. You can see the famous "flash" of the Royal Welch Fusiliers behind his collar. Painted in artist's oils. Colin 1
Jerry B Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Excellent work, great to see sassoon in particular, as I am a collector and historian to the RWF. Edited August 17, 2014 by Jerry B
ColinRF Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks gents - next up Major General Sir Isaac Brock at Queenston Heights 1812. Colin
Spasm Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I really like these two. I prefer these to your others as they aren't flash or overly shiny with gold bits. They sit really well together. I think its because I like the troopies look. Well done and all those expletives above.
