dedehansen Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Hello Gent´s, do there exist award list`s for the Ordine della Corona d`Italia ? I´m looking for the names of german recipients who got this order combined with the earthquake by Messina. I would like to add a name to this medal bar. I believe that it is a civilian from the merchant navy. Kind regards Andreas
medalman90 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 thats a beautiful mount. i hope you put a name to it.
dedehansen Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks medaiman90, my hope was that there is a list from the recipients, but it seems that there is no such one. Kind regards Andreas
Leuchtturm Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Hi Andreas, I can´t help you, but I like that bar very much. Best wishes Chris
dedehansen Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks Chris, I believe that it is the medal bar from a crew member ( officer ) from the NDL - steamer Therapia or Bremen. Regards Andreas
Great Dane Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Hi Andreas, Looking at the ribbon, I can see that it is not the "Messina earthquake medal" but the "Messina earthquake commemorative medal". Correct? List of recipients for both medals were listed in "Gazzetta Ufficiale del Regno d'Italia". Those lists seem to be incomplete, though... Note that when those lists mention a navy ship, they will list the captain separately, but the general opinion is that everyone on board got the medal listed with the ship. This is a list (from Gazzetta) of the German recipients of the Commemorative medal: /Michael Edited February 1, 2015 by Great Dane
Great Dane Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 And for completion, here is the list of German recipients of the earthquake medal (not the commemorative version). If someone is one both lists, you could rule him out for your group (but as I said, the list are quite inaccurate and incomplete). /Michael

Your are right it is the Commemorative medal. Regards Andreas
Great Dane Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Like I said, the lists are inaccurate and incomplete (not surprising given the chaos that followed the earthquake). Note that crews on ships are not listed individually (except for captains on navy ships). /Michael
dedehansen Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Michael, my hope was / is that there is such one list for the italian crown order too
dedehansen Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 I think a friend of mine has identified the former owner Engelbert Klugkist, 1. Offizier from the BremenResource Ranglisten des Norddeutschen Lloyd 1909 - 1913Kind regardsAndreas
