Deruelle
Very nice group This officer may have received the first Austrian medal when he was an NCO and the second one when he was officer (?sterreich Milit?r Verdienst Kreuz mit Kriegsdekoration). Can you make a close up of the wreath please ?RegardsChristophe

Guest Rick Research
The KARL Bravery Medal means he was still not commissioned as of 1917, so he only made Leutnant 1917/18:a young guy and odd he never remounted these lovely medals up with his Hindenburg Cross circa 1934/35.FIVE decorations (and figure it very likely he had the EK1 as well for SIX) for a baby Second Lieutenant is quite a record! For that reason, I doubt it was navy-- an officer THAT junior wasn't normally in a positon to wrack up such an array. So the backing here is probably to match his civilian jacket.Though the ribbon bar does suggest wear on some sort of uniform...a puzzle. He was not in the Reichsmarine. notned
Hi chris,That is a Beautiful bar in superb condition...AND with makers tag! I think we should pin a Thread that shows these maker tags and gives us an example of the different manufacturing styles of each maker...so we can identify the bars that are not maker tagged... and yes as RR says...wonder why there is no Hindenberg....???Now you need a nice case to display this in!CheersPaul
CHRIS W
Rick, thanks for the insight Maybe he died before 1934. The lack of the Honor Cross is what I liked about this bar.Christophe: This is the best I could do on the wreath.Chris
CHRIS W
So was this guy from Hamburg, but served with a Brunswick regiment?Chris
Guest Rick Research
Something like that-- i haven't found any UNITS combined from the two places in one division.I have partial groups from two L?beck school teacher brothers, natives of that city, who BOTH served in Brunswick Infantry Regiment 92, God alone knows why/how as reserve officer candidates during the war.
