dante Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) Originally posted in the Imperial section and thanks to Chris B,http://gmic.co.uk/forums/topic/65914-little-help-please-tamara-orden-rangliste-unit/ it appears Baron Walter Von Kutzchenbach served with Sonderverbande "Bergmann" he also married Olga, daughter of Feld marshal Paulus, it appears he was killed in action in 1944 (to be confirmed) I have found him in the book "Forgotten Legion", "Sonderverbande Bergmann", as Dr Oberlander's assistant (Sonderfuher) born in Tiblisi, spoke Caucasian and carried out selection of volunteers (noted as "Baron Walter Von Kutsenbach") Welcome your thoughts Edited December 19, 2016 by hucks216
hucks216 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Nice item with an interesting back story for Sonderverband Bergmann. There is a von Kutzschenbach as having been killed as a Sonderführer on 19th September 1944 but the first name doesn't match (Achim) and nor does the date of birth. Younger brother perhaps? There is also a Major Rolf von Kutzschenbach listed as dying in December 1945 in a PoW camp in Russia and born in 1888.
dante Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 Thanks Hucks, yes its a strange one...he is noted as being Dr Oberlanders deputy and the designer of the Kinjal badge that Sonderverband wore, but nothing noted after the issue of this pass...
