slava1stclass Posted March 16, 2006 Author Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) To all: All told, only 15 Marshals of the Soviet Union (MSU) would have worn this headgear. Considering that the successor model, the M1955, was authorized on 3 March 1955, the 15 MSUs who would have worn the M1945 model were:MSU Beria MSU BudyonnyMSU BulganinMSU Govorov MSU KonevMSU Malinovskiy MSU Meretskov MSU Rokossovskiy MSU SokolovskiyMSU (later Generalissimus) Stalin MSU Timoshenko MSU Tolbukhin MSU Vasilevskiy MSU Voroshilov MSU Zhukov No matter how you look at it, beyond its exceedingly rare status, the M1945 Victory Parade service cap has an immediate direct connection to the most singularly prominent Soviet military and political figures of the Great Patriotic War period. Bryan Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 So do you have any idea which MSU could have worn yours?
Guest Rick Research Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Actually, since the hand embroidery is unique, I would think it might be worthwhile checking portrait photos of those VERY well known recipients looking for this precise detail in the quite ugly Marshals' "sea weed" embroidery--[attachmentid=31069]the variation in the red showing inside as circled might document whose this was.
