Chip
Super pass! Many units, fronts, actions. Really interesting historical timeline. I found it particularly interesting that Gebirgs-Artillerie-Abteilung Nr.5 and Nr.6 shared the same Ersatz Abteilung. I think these units were a mixture of troops from Bavaria, Württemberg and Prussia.

Chip
Andy,Where was this Hill 1114 located? Edited September 3, 2015 by Chip

The Prussian
And he lived 20 minutes from my home. ..By the way: Rommel fought the same time at the same place at hill 1114 with the WGB!
IrishGunner
Andy, actually reading Rommel's book Infantrie Greift An gave me the motivation to hike the area while living in the region. The mountains around Kobarid/Capparetto and the Isonzo Front are what really got me interested in WWI and collecting in a more focused way. Not to mention it's a very beautiful area. Worth a trip. IrishGunner
Andy, I've never been very good at preserving my adventures on film. Sadly, I have no personal photos to share. The internet should yield some great images...and a website...Open Air Museum Kolovrat Kobarid/Capparetto:
The Prussian
These are very good-looking photos! Now imagine, you´d been there end of october. Probably the green had turned into white... and instead of beer you´d rather been drinking mulled wine...
IrishGunner
Andy, I climbed Mt. Krn on 11 Nov for a Remembrance Day ceremony and yes it was white! But the drink was a Hungarian pepper palinka.

I have read the book this week and had the same thoughts! :-) They would have supported the Leib Regt when Schörners 12th Company took Höhe 1114!!! Chip
I see from the map that the 3.Jäger Regiment was well represented. Chip
