Major, maybe Oberstleutnant.

Or even a Captain if no staff service and resigned in 1918/19.

Assuming he was commissioned in 1898/99, Oberleutnant in 1907/08 and Hauptmann around 1911/12 he should have hit char. Major or at a stretch Major.
