christerd Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Aha, Thanks Hermann! So he was a Würtemberger , I found him with PRAO III and Würtemberg Kron Orden III in Ranklist 1913 Christer
Hermann Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Interesting. During his education at the military medical academy, he was assigned for 2 years at the children's hospitel of the Charite in Berlin. Normaly children aren't soldiers.
arb Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Christer, Here is his complete career Hermann, his two years at the Childrens Clinic were long after he completed training. It was very common for military medical officers to spend several years at a civilian hospital. particularly when assigned to the Kaiser Wilhelm Academy. No doubt this was to keep the doctors up-to-date on medical procedures, but also to given them practical experience in areas outside duty with the troops. The Prussian army was always chronically short of medical officers (active and reserve/Landwehr) , and it did all it could to attract and retain qualified medical officers. One way to do this was to give them non-military assignments. Having traced the careers of all the medical officers from the Ober Stab Arzt onwards in the 1914 Rangliste, I can assure you that such assignments were very common.
