Dana B Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Any idea would be helpful - obviously a country with French influence and the use of scimitars and a crescent moon with star smacks of Horn of Africa or Middle East.
Jerry T Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The flag on the medal, and presumably the issuing agent, is the "Northern Army", one of the many armed "liberation" movements in Chad. http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/td_armov.html Regards, Jerry
922F Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) Yes, the Front de Libération Nationale du Tchad [National Liberation Front of Chad], an insurgent rebel group active in northern Chad between 1966 and 1993, apparently sponsored or awarded a couple of decorations with the same planchet and different bars. The brother colonel supported this group and received/obtained an example. GMIC thread 'Libyan Medal Bar - can anyone identify ribbons pls' discusses this award among others. peter monahan Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Well doen, to identify this, 922F! Dana, is this something you have in your possession? It would be interesting, if that's the case, to figure out how it got out of Chad, as one wouldn't expect these to have had a very wide circulation.
Dana B Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 I do own it. I picked it up along with a Uruguayan medal on the wrong ribbon from someone in Indiana.
