j-sk Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Good evening Gentlemen, Does anyone know if the officer portraited here is wearing a German/Prussian or a Russian uniform? (see attachment) Red-piped dark green tunic and light blue collar. Gold-bullioned red-piped dark green shoulder boards. I personnally think it is German/Prussian, a Jäger maybe, because of the shoulder boards: half-moon shaped green-coloured board with bullion edges... Russian officers' boards would be plain bullion. Furthermore, the ribbon at the buttonhole is worn in the German way. It looks very much like the ribbon of the commemorative combattant of the 1813 to 1815 campaigns medals. But am I right? Should anybody have any idea... or even know which regiment is represented... please let me know. Thank you in advance. Cheers Jean-Sam.
filfoster Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 (edited) The medal ribbon is probably the key but I can't match it. Your guess of the medal is close but both edges should be white and on my monitor, they're not. It's not among any of my German States references I have. Some Russian ribbons were 'asymmetrical' in that way. The 'sea green' coat and epaulette style suggests Russian. Edited March 3, 2016 by filfoster
