dedehansen Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Hi Gents, this photo was send to his parents by their son Wilhelm. The postcard was adressed to Herr Christian Babiek, does such an Musikmeister / Musikdirektor with surname Babiek exist? Every help appreciated Andreas
Glenn J Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Andreas, I don't think there was a Musikdirektor of that name. He is wearing the pattern of uniform in use from 1898 to 1908. Are there any further clues on the card: location, date etc? can you provide an enlarged image of the Pickelhaube plate? Regards Glenn
dedehansen Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 Hi Glenn, it is dated with Frankfurt den 1.8.1907, he is telling his Family that the Regt. Kapellmeister Schmidt was buried today an this picture is a memory of him, so it could be the Regimentskapellmeister Schmidt?! Regards Andreas
Glenn J Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Andreas, I believe you have him. Musikdirigent August Schmidt of Grenadier-Regiment 12 was a veteran of 1866 and 1870/71 and received the Ottoman Medschidie Order 5th class in 1900. Regards Glenn
dedehansen Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 Thanks Glenn, I think you have found him, much appreciated. Kind regards Andreas
