JBFloyd Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I've seen this one somewhere, but cannot recall the proper name for it. Can anyone help?
oamotme Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Jeff, The centre appears to be the same if not similar to the Hafidien Order of Morocco - perhaps this is a compilation star as the Arabic should not be with a cross. The Arabic is not 199% but appears to read "Al Jalalah Al Yousfid'. Regards, Owain
JBFloyd Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 Owain, Thanks. My leaky memory was pointing me toward a local issue from the Dutch Indies, so this sets me on a better path.
Bayern Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Hello : Cross and Islam ? not possible . A Dutch award with arabic inscription , probably
Egyptian Zogist Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Do you think it might be related to Afghanistan's Order of the Durrani Empire? It's the only other order I've seen whose design includes a cross with an Arabic (or to be precise a language using Arabic script) inscription. Images from Christopher Buyer's Royal Ark site (https://www.royalark.net/Afghanistan/orders.htm) :
oamotme Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 As the centre is a Moroccan it may be that an original Bertrand of Paris manufactured centre has been 'married' to the cross. The rim of the centerpiece is different from the rim of the cross. Is there a reverse image? Regards, Owain
JBFloyd Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 The reverse is blank. The marriage possibility is certainly viable. This came out a very large estate collection, so there's no way to go back through the previous collector.
