BalkanCollector Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) I got a strange looking wound badge today at a flea market so I'm wondering if it's real. The front looks alright to me. Reverse is rather strange. Closer look of the marking or something. It's thick which is also strange. Additional info: -it weighs 67 grams -4,5mm thick -dimensions: 33x40mm Edited August 14, 2016 by BalkanCollector
Jock Auld Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Looks like a cast copy. Is it lead or another alloy?
BalkanCollector Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 Alright, thanks for the info. I got it for 5€ so it's not a big damage. Seems like lead to me...
Jock Auld Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 The reverse of a badge usually tells you more than the front. Lead is normally a big give away as this was used early on to copy stuff although the copies have moved on now with better production techniques and metals. If anything looks cast like this one does regardless of how good the front is then it is better to leave it and you still have your money for a beer and a bratty. They also cast fake buckles, buttons, etc so be on your guard. Good luck for the future!
stewy Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Sorry, I must agree with Jock. A cast fake & a poor attempt to boot. Stewy
