Stormrider59 Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 3rd Army + IV Corps, the checkerboard Circle underneath the "O.H.B." is for the IV Corps, which likely explains the 4 Aces. I see a pair of dice on there as well, very interesting piece. I do find it interesting to see that the 3rd Army was formed on November 7th, 1918, so I would wonder when this helmet was painted.
dante Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 Love to know as well....Initials of his name?
The Prussian Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 (edited) We see 3rd army, IV.corps, but no divisional markling. Probably the man served directly with the IV.corps? Edited March 19, 2017 by The Prussian

This helmet is definitely a case for IV Corps service, I am at a loss for the O.H.B. as well (certainly could be initials). I will ask my WWI collector buddy to see what he thinks. OP, do you have any photos of the edges with the other paintings in more detail?

dante Posted March 25, 2017 Author Posted March 25, 2017 PS had a check of "O.H. Bones" in the World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 nothing found
Ulsterman Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 I have seen a lot of pictures of these being worn at homecoming parades or at Memorial Day parades-esp. in the 1920s. I have never seen a photo of one like this in France/Germany.
