Jim R Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I just received this spange document that was issued on 2 May 45 and signed by the last person awarded the Knights Cross Generalleutnant Joseph von Radowitz. Jim
Jim R Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 Made a mistake, the general was the last person to be awards Oak Leaves to his KC. Also, the unit was NSKK - Speer before it was merged with the Wehrmacht, he still maintained his NSKK rank.
Dansson Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Very interesting and a really late award date! Just thinking on that the war ended only a week later.
pieter1012 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Jim, a very nice late war Iron Cross Spange document. I have also a very late war Iron Cross document, signed on 1 May 1945 by generaloberst von Blaskowitz, as commander of the German Forces in the Netherlands during the closing days of the war. Four days later he was signing the instrument of surrender to the Canadian general Foulkes, in a hotel in the eastern part of the Netherlands. Because of its connection to the war in my country, I like this document.
