Deutschritter Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 (edited) Great, Glenn, thanks so much ... couldn't find the first two promotions anywhere! Btw, this really surprised me ... his correct name (Genealogisches Taschenbuch der freiherrlichen Häuser) is Friedrich Oswald Ludwig Freiherr Prätorius von Richthofen, his last name therefore Prätorius von Richthofen (Prätorius was later dropped). Son of Carl Friedrich Gottlob Joachim Freiherr Prätorius von Richthofen (1806–1881), Kreisgerichtsrat, and his first wife Luise Caroline, geb. Schröder (1823–1864). Glenn J Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 4 hours ago, Deutschritter said: (Prätorius was later dropped). Interesting, he was gazetted in the Militär-Wochenblatt as just Freiherr v. Richthofen at the time of his promotion to Seconde-Lieutenant on 16 November 1882. In fact his father is also just listed as "Freiherr v." as far back as 1848 in the Prussian Court and State hand book as an Ober-Landes-Gerichts-Assistent. Regards Glenn 1
