Hauptmann Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Hi all, Considering a WW1 war medal named to: 5651 PTE.F.WATSON. 9-LOND.R. I try to get Watson named medals when I can. Wondered if any of our members might be able to help me with any info on this individual? Many thanks in advance! Dan
Hauptmann Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 Many thanks!!!! That's terrific... have a first name now. Think I'll try and grab it. :-) Thank you so much!
Tony Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Looks like he was sick in 1916. Here's a list of the casualty clearing stations to give you an idea of the area he may have been serving in. https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/army/regiments-and-corps/locations-of-british-casualty-clearing-stations/
peter monahan Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Here's a brief synopsis of their service, from this site: https://www.wartimememoriesproject.com/greatwar/allied/battalion.php?pid=713 If he was ill/wounded in '16 and declared medically unfit for further service, I'd assume that explains his being sent to the APC. Maybe a clerk in Civvy street?
