Norman ben Nathan Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 Just acquired this unusual buckle. Appears to be chrome plated brass. It has a 50's style hook. Any input as to its use would be greatly appreciated. I did look on the net and it was described as a "guards" buckle like in a gulag. The internet isn't always gospel! Thank you!
Norman ben Nathan Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 Actually they might be crossed Mosin-Nagant carbines model of 1938 or 1944.
Sergey Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 This has to do with non-military security. Vohr. https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/ВОХР_(охрана)
Jersey Bouy Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Thank you Sergey. Do you know if this was worn on a brown or black leather belt? Thank you.
chechaco1 Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 what kind of belt was on that vohrovets and wore, but most often the source is a soldier's belt - canvas or later brown.
chechaco1 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 VOHR is a civil guard with a weapon, often, as they are called in Russia, "starper" - an old fart. Therefore, compliance with the form is only nominal, they will recognize you as a vohrovets, and that's good, there is a cap - and that's enough )
Jersey Bouy Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Thank you chechacol1. So they are basically Russian Rent-A-Cops, but older! Starper-my new favorite Russian word.?
