Chris Boonzaier Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Krause has the Bavarian leib Regiment tunic with the brandenburg cuffs as a M1910 style, however the cuffs were only approved in 1911, and from what I hear, the tunics only appeared in 1913-14.... so for a very short time they replaced the swedish cuffs... but from 1915 or so we see the swedish cuffs taking over again... maybe the introduction had been to rocky ? You see the brandenburg cuffs being worn by veteran officers in the regiment later in the war, but the younger officers with swedish cuffs again?
Bayern Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Hello, the Swedish cuffs reappared for the Kunftige friedensuniform of 1915 ,1916 for Bavaria . the man on the last pic wears these type
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Hi, but even on the field uniforms, the swedish 2 buttons seemed to replace the Brandenburger.... I am assuming that because normal vereinfachte Röcke arrived at the Depot, it was easier to turn them into one with swedish cuffs than make one with Brandenburg cuffs?
Bayern Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Surely it was easier to transform the turned up cuffs in swedish ones than in brandenburgers
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 24, 2020 Author Posted February 24, 2020 Hi, indeed, but the Swedish cuffs were in fact the traditional ones for the regiment, so they had been there since the 19th century. The Brandenburgers were introduced just before the war, but somehow seem never to have really "made it" into widespread usage...
