Schlange Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 (edited) Hi. I need some help with these Austrian M1895 bayonet: Is plating (Chrome or maybe nickle?) done in Austro-Hungarian period or maybe later? Its look brand new to me? Maybe private private purchase after WW1? Thank you in advance Schlange Photos: 1.) 3.) Edited July 26, 2020 by Schlange
Bayern Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Perhaps stainless steel . in any case a privately purchased item .
Christian1962 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 I could imagine it´s a private purchase officer´s bayonet. The knot is a 1917/18 officer´s knot with a cypher "K" for "Karl I.". Regards Christian
Bayern Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Until the death of Francis Joseph I his Cypher was carried on swordknots ,cockades etc .and you can determine if the item belonged to the Austrian or Hungarian because in the Austrian the Cypher was FJ1 and in the Hungarian 1 FJ . when Kaiser Karl was crowned the monogram changed but unified in only the K .
