numis Posted December 18, 2020 Share Posted December 18, 2020 I have an example of this medal , issue of Napoleon III by Barre , 27mm in Silver named to " Ollier claude 1863 " . I cannot determine from the naming whether or not this was a military recipient. Would citation and / or gazetting details be findable anywhere? Bayern Posted February 27, 2021 Share Posted February 27, 2021 Numis ,there were no diferences between the medals awarded to civilians and the ones awarded to soldiers . the Medaille was created in 1820 by King Louis XVIII to reward any person who with risk of his own life saved the life of another person or persons .
