The details in these photographs is incredible.. to the point where you can make out the actual medals and details in the bar.

mravery
The one thing that I am still looking for (in regards to pictures) is one of him actually wearing this parade tunic !!
Mike Dwyer
Beautiful stuff! I collect mostly postcards of royalty/nobility, in fact the photo you posted in item 3 was on eBay the other day and I tried to win it, but got outbid. I don't believe I have any from Saxe-Altenburg, but I could be mistaken. I can't afford the helmets, uniforms, medals, or swords, so I just collect photos and postcards! I believe this postcard from Saxe-Meiningen is the only Saxon duchy that I have right now.

Sorry about the auction...... but I think it was me that outbid you Ernst I is about the only guy that I'll spend the $$ on for good postcards and CDVs...... But hey.. since we are both in Florida.... you can come by and visit it anytime you want !Thanks for the kind words guys...... this has been a project for some time and I'm glad to almost see it completed......Question for you MEDALS and ORDERS guys.... even in the very first pic... he is wearing the Ernestine Grand cross badge (I guess due to him being 'royalty')... but would it have been awarded without swords.. and then perhaps later on in 1848 or 1870.. the swords were added.....And if so...... would he not really be able to wear both... with and without swords ?????CheersMark
