paratrooped Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 First post. I came across this medal bar, and while doing my homework I noticed that it has a Bavarian 9 year service medal and the Prussian 12 year service medal. Is this legit? Or has someone doctored this up?
91-old-inf-reg Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Paratrooped, Welcome to the form, and beautiful bar, one critique however, the Ehrenlegion medal is actually supposed to be the Kreigverdeinstkreuz most likely without swords as evident by the missing swords on the Ehrenkreuz 1914/18. To your question, it is most certainly not doctored up. As you may well know, the years fighting in the war counted double for service in the army. Second, the 2ed class version of the Bavarian Long service cross is for 24 years, so having both the 12 and 9 year long service awards is totally normal.
paratrooped Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 Ok. Thank you. The Ehrenkreuz ribbon at one time had the swords ⚔️ on it at one time, there's a small imprint on where it penetrated the ribbon. I love imperial bars with all their variations, but this one nagged at me.
VtwinVince Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 The EK ribbon looks odd, and the usual uniformity of the wrapping of the ribbons is lacking.
