Deutschritter
I am looking for all information about "Tannenberggeneral" Otto Karl Hans August Freiherr von Brandenstein (21.10.1865 - 8.5.1945), who was murdered on 8 May 1945 by the Soviets. Especially WW I decorations would be of great interest. Did he receive the liberty cross first class (like Rüdiger Graf von der Goltz)? Thank you, Gentlemen. Daniel Krause
Brandensteins WW1 stuff was Plm, KO2X, BMV3XKr, HT, MMV1, OK1, something Finnish and ÖM3K. Best, Daniel
Deutschritter
Once again great, Daniel, thank you! I'm reaching a little, but as leader of the Landungsabteilung „Brandenstein“ I am quite sure he received the Freiheitskreuz 1st class, even Friedrich Karmann, Generalmajor Graf von der Golz' "Adjutant" received the 1st class, of course not with "Brillanten" like the Generalmajor. Of course they all received the Erinnerungsmedaille des Freiheitskrieges 1918 (roundabout 15,000 Germans), so surely also von Brandenstein ... (?!)
