Deutschritter Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 (edited) Gentlemen, what exactly is Roßbach wearing around his neck??? Did he only receive EK II and I in the war or more? Edited August 10, 2021 by Deutschritter
JohanH Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 I think the crown looks very much like the Russian crown of St Anna.
Deutschritter Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Yes, you are right, it really does ... he became Leutnant 1913, but I doubt he received this order ... especially not with swords. It somehow looks overdimensional, I have never seen anything like it. Maybe a sort of private decoration?
bolewts58 Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 It is the White Russian Order of St. Anne with Swords 1st class given to him by Count Bermondt-Avalov for his Freikorp's breakthrough and relief of the Eiserne Division/West Russian Volunteer Army (Russische Westarmee) which was surrounded by Latvian troops in November 1919 during the Baltic Campaign. Sturmabteilung Rossbach force marched 1200 miles from Berlin to Thorensburg, Latvia to save the Eiserne Division/West Russian Volunteer Army from certain destruction. 3
Deutschritter Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Wow, phantastic, that really makes sense. Thank you!
FranzCarlEndres Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Good evening! @Deutschritter: Could you please share where the first picture of Roßbach and Hauenstein is from? That would be great!
