New 50p 2022?

can anyone explain this to me? It was my understanding that we’ve had 50p’s for years?

Sounds like usual modern limited edition crap hype of which the firm  are noted for avoid like the plague.

As I understand it the normal day-to-day use 50p. coins will be in circulation for years to come.

However, the silver and gold versions will only be available to coin collectors/dealers etc. at prices far above the face value of 50p.

These you will not find in your loose change (unless you're very lucky).

PS: It says ROYAL - i.e. issued to commemorate a royal event - Birthday, Jubilee etc.
