It was my understanding that we’ve had 50p’s for years? https://westminstercollection.com/lp2021/official-platinum-jubilee-50p-announcement.aspx?gclid=CjwKCAiA7dKMBhBCEiwAO_crFOzMUY1arua9yyzgV9E7166d7N4W8RAWLw7DUdmKuYW9G6uOgWRhnxoCalUQAvD_BwE

Marcon1 Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 (edited) As I understand it the normal day-to-day use 50p. coins will be in circulation for years to come. However, the silver and gold versions will only be available to coin collectors/dealers etc. at prices far above the face value of 50p. These you will not find in your loose change (unless you're very lucky). Marcon1. PS: It says ROYAL - i.e. issued to commemorate a royal event - Birthday, Jubilee etc. Edited November 25, 2021 by Marcon1 1
ChrisKelly Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago This one? Sent by a friend in the U.K. to me, presumably the cupro-nickel version for circulation.
