    Hello Gents,

    Everyone likes pictures yeah?

I do. I like all sorts. Rppc, CDV, postcards.

    But particularly those used as

Feldepost with all the details the backs carry names , dates, units , addresses and if I could actually read German, a lot more 🤨

I’ve posted a lot of these front & back in detail a few years back, so for now, this is just about the fronts.

I’ve got this shoe box just for AustroHungarian cards…

I’m gonna work through the box and post a few at a time here, just for us to enjoy 🙃

    Hi Farkas,

thanks for sharing these wonderful postcards! I love pictures, photographs and postcards too, but I prefer those from South Tyrol, in particular photographs from war scenarios in the high mountains of my region.

    again, wonderful postcards!

Here one of my top favorites photos of my humble collection.

above, the barrack under the top of the carè alto (adamello national park) in the winter of 1916/7 (personal collection)
Below, the same barrack in 1947 and in 2009 (these last two photos are from a book)

The Barrack is still present nowadays!

    Best Regards.

Amazing to see how it has lasted…
    Nice one Felix.

I know people do visit these sites but what about you? Are they situated so that you are able to visit them or are they too far away & up in the clouds?

    I’m 53 soon, I don’t think I could make it anymore even if I tried 😊

Hi tony, these sites around 3000 meters are usually pretty far away from cities and Mountain retreat, but it's not impossible to reach them, you have to walk between rocks and ice for a few hours (last summer it took me 11 hours to reach some Italian Baracks around 3100 meters), but you can still find- between rocks, ice, destroyed barracks and Floor boards- socks, equipment, bottles and other military stuff directly from 1918, frozen in time and found in the same place they were left in November 1918.

I'll look for some photos about my last trip in September 2022!

    Hi Gents

i have been posting cards of a similar style each time, 4 studio shots or 4 postcards etc.

I’ve looked back and though with related cards it makes sense, on other posts they look a bit ‘samey’.

So i think it may be more interesting if I mix it up a bit instead from now on 😊

👉 If you have any requests for the next ones or if you want to see the reverse of anything I post… please ask 👍
