T. Abraham Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 We have a family gold cup with the attached stamps, is it possible to tell more or less the year of production of the cup? This is a cup with a gold lid on which there are five seals. Two on the cup, one on the lid and two more on a part of the lid that can in principle be separated from the lid. We have no idea why there are so many stamps, and it is also difficult to identify them because there are no incredibly small ones. According to the family story, the cup is from Austria-Hungary, from the first half of the 19th century and maybe even earlier. I would appreciate an opinion C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\stamp3.jpg C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\stamp2.jpg C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\stamp1.jpg
T. Abraham Posted June 8, 2023 Author Posted June 8, 2023 Thanks This is a cup and a cup cover. Both the cup and its lid (each separately) have two very small stamps, and one more large stamp. It seems that one of the small seals is the same as the big one, I couldn't decipher the other one. 1
Elmar Lang Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 The "Gemsenkopfpunze" for gold 750/ooo was introduced from 1867 and was discontinued in 1922. The maker's mark looks like a "FB"... but I'm not sure. Best wishes, Enzo (E.L.) 1
StefanK. Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 More precisely, the pieces you showed were tested for its gold content in Vienna between 1872 and 1922. As gold was quite precious during the war time, I‘d guess that the cups were made before 1914. Pictures of the cups can help to precise the production time. The gold content is 18kt or 750/1000
